Communication

This course is suitable for all staff within a care setting who are involved in communicating and interacting with people within the setting.

The aim of this course is to provide candidates with the knowledge and skills required to communicate effectively when interacting with others.

DESCRIPTION

By the end of this unit you will be able to:

  • Understand why communication is important in adult social care settings
  • Understand how to meet the communication and language needs, wishes and preferences of an individual
  • Understand how to reduce barriers to communication
  • Understand confidentiality in adult social care settings

  • Why do we communicate?
  • Types of communication
  • Barriers of effective communication and how to reduce them
  • Communication differences
  • How to support people to communicate
  • The need for confidentiality

  • Participation in Group Activities
  • Oral answering of questions during course
  • Post course assessment
