Equality & Diversity

This course is suitable for all staff working in a care setting who are involved in the promotion of equality and diversity within the workplace. The course complies with the Equality Act 2010, Human Rights Act 1998 and the Care Quality Commission (CQC Essential Quality Standards). The aim of this course is to provide candidates with the underpinning knowledge to promote inclusion and anti-discriminatory practices within the workplace.


The outcomes

By the end of this course the learner will be able to:

  • Define what is meant by diversity, equality, inclusion and discrimination
  • List key legislation and codes of practice relating to diversity, equality, inclusion and discrimination
  • Describe how direct or indirect discrimination may occur in the work setting
  • Explain how practices that support diversity, equality and inclusion reduce the likelihood of discrimination
  • Describe how to interact with individuals in an inclusive way
  • Describe ways in which discrimination may be challenged in adult social care settings
  • Know how to access information, advice and support about diversity, equality, inclusion and discrimination

  • Rights and responsibilities

  • Participation in group activities
  • Oral answering of questions during the course
