Fluids & Nutrition inc. MUST

This course is designed for all staff working in the care environment. It provides individuals with the information required to ensure that all clients are provided with adequate fluids and nutrition.

The aim of this course is to provide candidates with the underpinning knowledge of nutrition and healthy eating so they can meet the individual nutritional requirements of their clients.


By the end of this unit you will be able to:

  • Identify three things that can affect a person’s diet and fluid intake
  • Discuss your role and responsibilities in maintaining nutrition and wellbeing in their service users
  • Discuss what is meant by the term “healthy diet”
  • List the five food groups needed for a healthy diet
  • List five nutrients required to maintain health and wellbeing
  • Discuss what is meant by malnourishment and dehydration and how this is identified
  • Identify the signs and symptoms of poor nutrition and dehydration
  • Explain how to promote adequate nutrition and hydration
  • Discuss what is meant by malnourishment and dehydration and how to assess using “MUST”
  • Implement the MUST tool within the workplace
