Infection Prevention and Control

To provide an understanding of the rationale for preventing the transmission of infections in care settings and give an overview of procedures that will reduce the spread of infection.

To promote the safety and well-being of all patients who live in care settings.


By the end of the course, candidates will be able to:

  • List the different elements of Standard Infection Control Precautions and discuss their importance

  • Describe the correct procedure for putting on and removing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
