Stroke Awareness

This course is designed for any employer or employee who works within the adult social care industry and aims to bring increased awareness to the prevalence of stroke and what it means.

The aim is to ensure that all employees are aware of the types of stroke that people suffer, what causes them, the after-effects and what people can do to cope after a stroke.


By the end of this unit you will be able to:

  • State what a stroke is
  • Understand the causes of stroke
  • Understand the different types of stroke
  • Identify the risk factors for stroke
  • Understand the causes of stroke
  • State who is more at risk of stroke
  • Understand how to reduce the risk of stroke
  • Highlight the after effects of stroke and how to cope with them
